ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Gwadar Port has the potential to beat main regionalrivals Dubai and Singapore Ports, Media report has revealed.
It was disclosed that Gwadar’s main competitors would be Singapore andDubai ports and the Gwadar Deep sea Port has the potential to beat theregional rivals.
Gwadar Port offers incentives such as “no cargo demurrage charges” and“three months storage facility” which would surely divert businesses toGwadar from Dubai and Singapore Ports.
Regarding storage facilities for fish processing within or outside theport, the parliament committee was assured that the Chinese companies wouldnot be slapped with extra taxes.
Discussing the legal framework/rules/regulations pertaining to fish dumpingand reprocessing facilities at Gwadar Port to local/foreign investors andChinese companies, Committee Convener Senator Kauda Babar said that aresolution must be passed to employ local population for jobs at thefacility.

The committee was informed that issues such as absence of monitoring andcontrol services have created massive hurdles.
The committee directed that all efforts must be made to pursue and resolvethis issue at the earliest. It recommended that trawling and policingissues must be discussed in detail and a uniform mechanism be formulatedfor all provinces.
Reviewing the Eastbay Expressway Project at Gwadar, the committee wasinformed that a revised PC-1 is being submitted to the Executive Committeeof National Economic Council for approval in this regard.
