Important development reported from ECP over PTI foreign funding case

ISLAMABAD – Important developments have been reported from the ElectionCommission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf foreignfunding case.ECP has reserved its verdict on four applications by PakistanTehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) seeking secrecy in the scrutiny of its foreignfunding case. The verdict will be announced on October 10.

In today’s proceedings, Chief Election Commissioner retired Justice SardarMohammad Raza said that the PTI had submitted four new miscellaneousapplications to the committee, adding that they “just wanted to increasethe burden of work”. He said that the investigative committee had forwardedthe applications to him so that he could make a decision.

According to PTI’s counsel, in all four applications, they had demandedthat the leakage of information should be stopped, in response to which thechief election commissioner inquired what the committee had to do withinformation being shared on media.

The chief election commissioner asked about the accounts which were shownby the State Bank. The bench wanted to know who owned the accounts, headded.

PTI’s lawyer said that all 23 accounts belonged to the PTI, adding thatthey have submitted all records of the scrutiny committee.
