The recent actions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) have hadsignificant implications for government officers in the province ofBalochistan, as reported by ARY News on Thursday. According to the latestdevelopments, the ECP has given its approval for a substantial reshufflingof government officers within Balochistan. This decision comes in responseto a request made by the Balochistan government, which sought to initiatetransfers and postings of numerous officers.
In light of the Balochistan government’s appeal, the Election Commission ofPakistan (ECP) has officially sanctioned the proposed transfers andpostings of government officers. The extensive list of transfers includes34 additional deputy commissioners, 84 assistant commissioners, eightdivisional commissioners, and 36 deputy commissioners. This move, detailedin an official notification, underscores the ECP’s involvement in shapingthe administrative landscape of the region.
Interestingly, the ECP’s recent decision marks a shift from its priorstance on government officer transfers and postings. Notably, earlier inthe same month, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had issued a banon transfers and postings at the federal level following the dissolution ofthe National Assembly and federal cabinet. The ECP communicated itsdirective to the Secretary Establishment through a formal letter, outliningthat the cessation of transfers and postings was imperative until theestablishment of a caretaker government.
The letter articulated the need to await the formation of a caretakergovernment before resuming transfers and postings. The Election Commissionof Pakistan (ECP) emphasized that adherence to this decision was crucial, thereby urging the authorities to halt any ongoing transfers and postingsuntil further notice. As the region navigates these administrative changesand adheres to the ECP’s directives, the upcoming formation of thecaretaker government will likely play a pivotal role in determining thefuture landscape of government officer appointments within Balochistan
