“Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir paid a visit to Bannu, wherenine Pakistan Army soldiers lost their lives in a suicide attack on amilitary convoy. This information was reported by ARY News, quoting themilitary’s media wing. As per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)statement, the army chief received a briefing on ongoing operations and theoverall security situation during his visit. General Munir also made a stopat CMH Bannu to inquire about the well-being of the soldiers injured in thesuicide attack.
The COAS commended the soldiers for their unwavering resolve and highmorale, stating, ‘Pakistan Army will persist in its role as a shieldagainst terrorism to protect the nation from this threat.’ While conversingwith officers and troops stationed in the region, COAS Munir emphasized,’The Army, along with law enforcement agencies and the entire nation,cannot be swayed by the cowardly tactics of terrorists, who erroneouslybelieve they can challenge the resolute determination of our soldiers andthe authority of the state.’
‘We have been fighting for an extended period and will continue to combatthe menace of terrorism until the end. The nation pays a profound tributeto those who have sacrificed their lives, and their sacrifices will alwaysbe revered,’ he added.
Upon his arrival, COAS was welcomed by Commander Peshawar Corps. It isworth noting that a suicide attack on a security forces convoy in theJanikhel area of Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulted in themartyrdom of at least nine soldiers. A suicide bomber on a motorcycledetonated near the military convoy, leading to the loss of nine lives andinjuries to five others. The armed forces remain resolute in theircommitment to eradicating the threat of terrorism, with such sacrificesserving to strengthen their determination, according to ISPR.”
