RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed on Friday that the “enduring partnership” between Pakistan and China remains a cornerstone of regional stability and shared strategic goals.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the 98th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the army chief praised the historic and resilient ties between the two countries. The event was organized by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan military’s media wing.
“Despite evolving regional and global dynamics, the friendship between Pakistan and China has stood the test of time,” COAS Munir noted. “Our longstanding partnership continues to contribute significantly to peace and stability in the region.”
The ceremony was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, who served as the chief guest. Also present were Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, Chinese embassy officials, and senior officers from Pakistan’s armed forces.
The army chief congratulated the PLA on its founding anniversary and commended its significant contributions to China’s national security and development. He underscored the strategic depth of the Pakistan-China relationship, highlighting its foundations in mutual trust, shared interests, and a commitment to regional connectivity—most notably through projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
“The Pakistan-China relationship is unique, robust, and deeply rooted in mutual respect and unwavering support,” said the COAS. He also emphasized that the two militaries remain “true brothers-in-arms,” committed to strengthening defence cooperation.
In his address, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked COAS Munir and the Pakistan Army for hosting the commemorative event. He reaffirmed China’s enduring support for Pakistan and praised the Pakistani armed forces for their determined efforts in counterterrorism and regional peacekeeping.
