ISLAMABAD – The World Bank has committed USD 465 million through twoprojects to support higher education in Pakistan and expand sustainableelectricity trade between Central Asia and South Asia.
“The two projects support Pakistan’s long-term vision for building highquality talent and promote the creation of a regional energy market toboost economic prospects for millions of Pakistanis.” said IllangoPatchamuthu, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan.
“Both projects form part of the priority areas identified in Pakistan@100:Shaping the Future, a flagship initiative, that identifies frontierinterventions for Pakistan to become an upper middle-income country by2047.”
The $400 million Higher Education Development in Pakistan Project willstrengthen tertiary education to produce skilled, innovative andenterprising graduates.
It will strengthen partnerships with industry for strategic research anddevelop data-driven governance of tertiary education.
