KABUL – Pakistan PM Imran Khan made promises to Afghanistan President,Afghan media has reported.
President Ashraf Ghani met Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday onthe sidelines of the 14th summit of the Organization for IslamicCooperation (OIC) in Saudi Arabia and discussed the Afghan peace processand bilateral ties, TOLO news has reported.
Khan assured Ghani that Islamabad will support Kabul in bringing peace andstability in Afghanistan, the Pakistani Prime Minister’s Office said in astatement.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a peacefuland stable Afghanistan. He also underlined Pakistan’s firm support for anAfghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process for political solution inAfghanistan,” the statement said.
The statement added that Ghani and Khan will further discuss security andeconomic issues in the forthcoming visit of the Afghan president toIslamabad.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Palace in a statement said that Ghani and Khanalso discussed issues around regional connectivity as well as trade andtransit.
The statement said that Khan promised to resolve the problem over theclosure of Pakistan airspace to Afghan flights between Kabul and NewDelhi.
