FIA cracks down against hawala and hundi business

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Peshawar has arrested atleast 40 suspects involved in hundi and hawala business in KhyberPakhtunkhwa (KP) as it continues its actions against the suspects embroiledin the illegal activity currency exchange.

According to Deputy Director Afzal Khan Niazi, on Friday, FIA Peshawarteams arrested three suspects during three separate raids. He said receiptsof illegal hundi/ hawala to the tune of around Rs3 million were confiscatedfrom their possession.

He said from January to March 2022, the FIA Peshawar not only arrestedaround 40 suspects but also recovered millions of rupees from theirpossession being sent through this illegal activity in the province.

He said actions would continue to stop illegal capital flight from thecountry.
