KP government to launch new Police Force

PESHAWAR: The tourism police in Khyber Pakthunkhwa will be operationalisedsoon after Eidul Fitre to facilitate foreign and domestic tourists inexploration of the God gifted natural beauties of the province inprofessional way.

Tourism police, in the first phase, are being raised for famous tourists’destinations Galyat- Thandyani Abbottabad, Swat, Chitral and Naran-KaghanManshera and later its services would be extended to other districts of theprovince, said Sajjad Hameed, General Manager Properties andAdministration, KP Tourism Corporation (TCKP) while talking to APP onSunday.

He said TCKP was in constant touch with Home Department and KP Police toprovide top policemen to serve in TCKP police for upcoming summer season,and that in later stage TCKP will have its own police.

The flow of domestic and foreign tourists has increased after restorationof law and order situation and launching of new online visa policy andtourism police is need of the hour.

Special counters would be setup at Bacha Khan International and otherairports in KP for facilitation of tourists in wake of the online visapolicy of the Federal Govt, he said.

TCKP police will coordinate with relief organisations including RESCU 1122and other departments for tourists’ safety besides helping them in case ofemergencies and natural calamities. He said tourism police would provideproper training on the pattern of Tailand tourism police.
