PCB Board of Governors approved boards of six provincial cricket associations

LAHORE-Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Governors (BoG) approved theboards of six provincial cricket associations for one year during their61st meeting held in Karachi on Saturday.

According to the PCB spokesman, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani presided over themeeting, which took different decisions for the betterment of Pakistancricket. In line with Clause 16 of the PCB Constitution 2019, the BoGapproved first Boards of the six Cricket Associations for a one-year term.During this period, the first Boards will carry out functions attributed tothe management committees in the Model Constitutions for City Cricket andCricket Associations, including managing and running day-to-day affairs,supervising the first registration of cricket clubs under each CCA as perapplicable regulations/bylaws and monitoring and organising cricket eventsand activities within its jurisdiction.

The Balochistan Cricket Association comprises Chairman Qaiser Khan Jamaliwhile members are Irfan Ahmad Awan, Munawar Khan Tareen, Murad Ismail,Nargis Hameedullah, Shah Dost, Syed Farid-ud-din and Zafarullah Jadgal. TheCentral Punjab Cricket Association includes Chairman Abdullah Khan Sumbalwhile members are Ali Ahmad Khan, Amir Ilyas Butt, Arshad Ahmad Khan, AtifNaeem Rana, Babar Altaf Butt, Shahrez Abdullah Khan, Muhammad Umer andSarfraz Ahmad Bajwa.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cricket Association has Anwar Zeb Jan as chairmanwhile members are Aamir Nawab, Abdul Jaleel Khan, Fayyaz Ali Shah, HarisBilal Afridi, Ikhlaq Ahmed Khan, Kabir Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Javed Afridi,Rozamin Khan and Shahid Khan Shinwari. The Northern Cricket Associationwill be chaired by only former first-class cricketer Saleem Asghar Mianwhile the members are Abdus Sami, Asif Faridi, Mohammad Ayaz Butt, NadeemAhmed Abbasi, Col (retd) Naushad Ali, Raja M. Zia Ashraf and Tanveer Ahmed.

Sindh Cricket Association consists of Imran Hussain (Chairman), AbdulRaqeeb, Aftab Baloch, Agha Jawaid Ahmed, Hadeel Obaid, Jamil A Mughal, LtGen (retd) Javed Zia and Syed Farooq Hussain Shah (all members) whileSouthern Punjab Cricket Association chairman is M Anees Khawaja whilemembers are Ali Khan Tareen, Hassan Hussein Qureshi, Khalid Farooq, ShahidAhmed Butt and Taimur Altaf Malik.

The BoG noted that the registration of clubs across Pakistan will commencenext month, with further details to be shared in due course. However, whenthe registration process opens, only club presidents will be able toregister the cricket club and all details will be shared with the FirstBoard for further verification and scrutiny.

The clubs, which participated in either 2017-18 or 2018-19 Fazal Mehmoodclub tournaments and fulfill the requisite criteria outlined in the bylawsapproved by the BoG, will be awarded voting rights while those, who don’tmeet the criteria, will get the voting rights after the second scrutiny.All clubs will have playing rights.

The BoG approved the Election Regulations and proposed amendments to thedomestic cricket bylaws, which are available on the PCB corporate websitein documents under PCB Model Constitutions. The BoG was informed that thePCB will help the first boards to organise City Cricket Associationtournaments from May end for both the senior and U-19 players, which willhelp in team selections for t he 2021-22 domestic season.
