*ISLAMABAD: Sharif family has been given yet another blow by The SupremeCourt of Pakistan. *
*The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected appeals filed by former primeminister Nawaz Sharif, Kulsoom Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif pertaining to thepayment of wealth tax, on Thursday. *
Not only were the appeals filed by Sharif family thrown out by the apexcourt but also those by Javed Shafi and Pervaiz Malik.
Sharif family had challenged the valuation of wealth taxes on their variousshares in several companies. They maintained in their petition that forfour years, the petitioners’ wealth tax was assessed disproportionate tothe market value of their stocks
*Nawaz arrives at accountability court for hearing in Al Azizia, Flagshipreferences hearings*
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif arrived at the accountability court onThursday to attend the hearing of the Al Azizia and Flagship supplementaryreferences hearing.
According to details, the former prime minister arrived for proceedings ofthe case and after his attendance was taken, requested the court to allowhim to leave.
His request was accepted and proceedings of the case were postponed till11:30 am. Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and Information MinisterMarriyum Aurangzeb also accompanied him to the hearing.
The hearing of the case was conducted by Justice Mohammad Bashir.
The court has summoned eight prosecution witnesses for today’s hearing whowill record their statements.
NAB filed three references against the Sharif family and another againstthe then-Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
The apex court granted six months to NAB to complete its inquiry and submitthe report.
Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and son-in-law are named in the London propertiesreference. The NAB court approved the couple’s bail in the Avenfieldproperties case against surety bonds worth Rs 5 million each.
