Pakistan – India agreement of limiting the attacks on each other atomic assets in war

Pakistan and India have shared the lists of their nuclear installations andstrategic facilities as part of an agreement that limits the twoadversaries from attacking each other’s atomic facilities during a war.

Earlier today, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided the list ofthe country’s sensitive installations and facilities to the Indian HighCommission in Islamabad.——————————

At the same time, India’s Ministry of External Affairs handed over asimilar list to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Pakistan andIndia have been exchanging these lists on 1 January of every year since1992.——————————

In December 1988, the nuclear neighbors penned “Agreement on Prohibition ofAttacks against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between Pakistan andIndia” under which the lists are exchanged annually.

The agreement also prohibits both countries from undertaking, encouraging,or participating in, directly or indirectly, any action aimed at causingthe destruction of, or damage to, any nuclear installation or facility inthe other country.
