QUETTA – A major power project in Hub, Balochistan under the China-PakistanEconomic Corridor (CPEC) has been operationlised.
The power project has producing capacity of 660-MW electricity, wascommissioned today.
The power project is fired by imported coal. According to China Power HubGeneration Company (CPHGC), it successfully synchronized one of its two660MW coal-fired power plants with the national grid.
The company said the synchronization of the first unit was achieved aheadof schedule within the agreed technical parameters.
The CPHGC plant will add 9 billion kWh of electricity to the national gridevery year after the start of commercial operation.——————————
The project is fired through imported coal and will operate with a totalinstalled capacity of 1,320MW once the other unit is also completed.
The CPHGC said that it will complete the second 660MW unit within thestipulated time. The synchronisation of the second unit is scheduled by Aug2019.
CPHGC Chief Executive Zhao Yonggang has appreciated the hard work andefforts of the company’s Pakistani and Chinese employees.
The two 660MW plants are among the priority projects under theChina-Pakistan Economic Corridor. It is the first overseas thermal powerproject developed by State Power Investment Corporation under China’s Beltand Road Initiative, Zhao Yonggang added.
The project has been built in Hub, Balochistan Lasbella district.
