Why Narendra Modi is visiting Afghanistan

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Afghanistan to inaugurate a dam funded by India.
India’s foreign ministry claimed that Modi will inaugurate the dam in western Herat district along with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani that was built with a cost of more than $2 billion near the border of Iran.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said “The completion of the Afghan-India friendship dam represents the culmination of years of hard work by around 1,500 Indian and Afghan engineers and other professionals in very difficult conditions.”
Recently, India, Afghanistan and Iran also signed a three way transit agreement of Chabahar port to bypass Pakistan.
India also assisted Afghanistan to built its parliament complex worth $90 million that was inaugurated by Modi in December.
Modi claimed that the Chabahar port will connect Iran, India and Afghanistan to central Asia that will enhance economic growth in the region.
India over the years has intensified it's relations with both western neighbours of Pakistan in order to isolate Pakistan in the region.
