WASHINGTON: World Trade Centre to be lit up in solidarity with Brussels 










WASHINGTON: Iconic landmark World Trade Centre will be lit up in Solidarity with Brussels after terror attacks.

 

“Tonight, World Trade Centre will be displayed in black, yellow and red as we stand in solidarity with the people of Belgium, just as they have done for us in the past,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.

 

Cuomo said “New York stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Belgium and the rest of the world in rejecting the hate and extremism behind this violence. As we have seen time and again, when we are united, terror has never prevailed and never will.”

 

Several landmarks around the world including the Eiffel Tower, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro were lit up in solidarity with the Belgians.

 

Brussels Zaventam airport and metro station was targeted in bombing attacks which led to the death of at least 35 people and wounded hundreds on Tuesday.

 

ISIS claimed the responsibility of attacks which occurred just after the days of arrest of Paris attacks master mind from Brussels.

 

European Union states have disconnected their Road, Air and Rail links with Belgium in wake of possible terror threat.

 


Belgian Interior Ministry already warned the state from possible terrorist attacks.
