US says Israeli settlements may not help peace

The United States says Israel's building of new settlements in occupied territories may not be helpful in achieving peace with Palestinians.
In a statement, White House said the Trump administration has not taken official position on settlement activity and looks forward to discussions when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with President Donald Trump later this month.
