US, Indonesian firms ink US$ 10 bln deals in energy, defense

JAKARTA (APP/Xinhua): The United States (US) and Indonesian companies signed agreements with a total value of more than US$ 10 billion in energy and defense sectors on Friday.
The US Vice President Mike Pence and his Indonesian counterpart Jusuf Kalla witnessed the signing at the Sangrilla Hotel here.
"Those agreements represent the tremendous excitement that the US firms feel about opportunity (to invest) in Indonesia," Pence said.
The agreements include ExxonMobil providing Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) to Indonesia's state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, Pacific Infra Capital selling turboprop engines to Indonesia's state-owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, Lockheed Martin providing advanced weapons for Indonesia's F-16 jet fighters.
"The total of investment is about 10 billion US dollars," Rosan Roeslani, chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said after the signing.
Pence ended his two-day visit in Indonesia on Friday and continued his tour to Australia.
