UN demanded to investigate human rights violation in IOK

ISLAMABAD: The victims of Indian state terrorism including the representatives of the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) have urged the United Nations to conduct a special inquiry to investigate human rights violations in the territory.
Different groups organized a joint programme in Srinagar to highlight the issue of rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir, Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.
Interacting with media persons, Muhammad Ashraf Matoo, father of Tufail Matoo, the 17-year-old boy who was killed in police action in 2010, said that Kashmir had been facing grave human right violations in different forms.
"We have faced various forms of human rights violations, ranging from disappearances, extra-judicial killings, illegal detentions and sexual assault," he said.
"We want to apprise conscientious citizens of our struggle against a state that has used every tactic to silence us," he added.
Representatives from APDP said that around ten thousand civilians have been subjected to enforced disappearance. They held the army and other Indian agencies responsible for disappearances.
The victims, who spoke on the occasion, said that burden of pain was mostly carried by the women - the mothers, wives and daughters of these disappeared persons.
They appealed to the international community to prevail upon the UN to create a special inquiry to investigate the human rights abuses in the Indian occupied territory. (APP)
