The mission London seems to fail yet again

LONDON: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Nawaz Sharif here in a meeting believed to be an effort by them to persuade Nawaz to soften his stance against the army and judiciary. However the mission seems to fail yet again as Nawaz Sharif again raised the issue of Panama and Iqama in the meeting and criticised the Decision as conspiracy.
Nawaz arrived in London from Jeddah late on Sunday whereas PM Abbasi and Shehbaz Sharif flew to London on Sunday for the meeting.
“What to speak of stability and progress if the elected leader of the country is ousted on the basis of Iqama [foreign work permit] and not Panama [Papers],” Nawaz told reporters before heading to his son’s office for holding a meeting with Shehbaz and party loyalist, Prime Minister Abbasi. He added that if a government becomes weak, it decreases the strength of the state as well.
“The stock exchange of the country took a nosedive shortly after my ouster, plummeting by 10,000 to 12,000 points,” he said.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president lauded the efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in bringing international cricket back to the country and said that he will return to Pakistan soon.
Talking to reporters after arriving in London, Prime Minister Abbasi said that he is in London on a private visit and he would be meeting with Nawaz to discuss routine party affairs.
He said that there was no rift among national institutions and he neither believed in conspiracy theories nor there was any room for those in the country. He said that both the political and military leadership of the country were sitting together during the recent meeting with the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Islamabad, adding that all of the country’s institutions are collectively playing their role for national development.
The incumbent prime minister also reiterated that there was no provision for a technocrat government in the country’s constitution.
Last week, the accountability court hearing corruption references against the Sharif family, issued bailable warrants for the former premier in the three references against him as he has lately been a no-show in the proceedings.
