Supreme Court grills NAB officials in Hudaibiya Papers Mills Case hearing

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday started hearing the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case against Sharif family.
According to details, a three-member bench of the apex court comprising of Justice Musheer Alam, Justice Qazi Faiz Essa and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan.
They are hearing the petition filed by NAB which challenged the Lahore High Court’s verdict of the case back in 2014.
In the hearing, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) pleaded the court to adjourn the hearing of the case hearing till the appointment of a new prosecutor.
Legal experts stated that SC expressed its anger over the plea made by NAB and rejected the rejected the request for postponing the case hearing.
Justice Musheer Alam, in his remarks, said that there is no point for adjourning today’s hearing while Justice Essa asked why proceedings of court contempt should be proceeded against the accountability bureau.
“Every case is high profile for us. Don’t make fun of the courts. Resign if a law official cannot appear for the case,” the court stated.
Justice Essa asked the name of the official who directed NAB to make the plea on which Deputy Prosecurity of the accountability bureau Imran-ul-Haq replied that the decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Chairman NAB.
Haq said that a summary has been sent by the name of Prosecutor General NAB on which Essa replied, “Why not summon Chairman NAB for testifying in the case. This way the case hearing will not be adjourned”.
Justice Alam said that the hearing of the case will be resumed in a while on which the officer, representing the accountability bureau said it will be better if its chairman appear for testimony in these high profile cases.
