Sikh Gurdawara closed since 1942 reopens in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The district administration has decided to reopen the Gurdwara after dissolving the dispute between Muslims and Sikhs. Gurdwara was closed since 1942. A Jirga was held in the office of Deputy Commissioner DC for the peaceful solution of the dispute. Representatives from local Muslims and Sikhs community attended the Jirga. DC Riaz Mehsud, special assistance to the Chief Minister, SP Imtiaz Khan and DSP Ahmad were also present in the Jirga. While talking to media, a senior official of district administration said the gurdwara was closed before the partition of subcontinent due to the issue of privacy between Muslims and Sikhs, especially of the women who lived in the neighborhood. He further stated that, an agreement has been signed between Muslims and Sikhs community to reopen the gurdwara. Now, Sikhs can worships in their religious place without any fear. Sikhs community representative said, worship would start soon after the necessary repair of gurdwara.
