Sikh community urged to boycott by-elections in IOK

ISLAMABAD (APP): Sikh Intellectuals Circle (SIC) of Jammu and Kashmir has appealed to the Sikh community to boycott the sham Indian parliamentary by-elections in occupied territory.

SIC Chairman, Narinder Singh Khalsa, addressing a news conference in Srinagar said, "The boycott of these farce elections will be the real tribute to our martyrs and all the victims of the Indian brutalities in Kashmir," KMS reported.

He said that permanent peace was not possible in the region unless the Kashmir dispute was resolved in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people. "Sikh Intellectuals Circle has carried out election boycott campaign in Srinagar and Islamabad constituencies and has provided the written statements to the Sikh organizations and joint resistance leadership," he said.

Narinder Singh Khalsa said, the stance taken by the entire Hurriyet leadership is based on reality and that is one of the reasons why SIC is appealing the people of both constituencies particularly the Sikh community for the election boycott.

Condemning the recent civilian killings in Chadoora area of Badgam, he said that the use of bullets could not suppress the Kashmiris' genuine voice for freedom. He urged the world community to take cognizance of the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Indian police and troops in occupied Kashmir.
