Sharjeel Memon challenges his arrest in Accountability Court

KARACHI: Former Sindh information minister and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon has on Monday challenged his arrest in the accountability court (AC).

The petition was filed by the lawyer of former provincial minister.

The petition contended that Sharjeel Memon was illegally taken into custody as his arrest warrants were not issued on October 23.

The petition prayed the court to declare his arrest illegal.

The counsel of Sharjeel Memon said that his client was a political figure and requested the court to allow him to given B-class facilities to which the court remarked that it would see how much place is available for B-class in the jail.

The PPP leader along with twelve other suspects were arrested outside the Sindh High Court on Oct 23 after the court revoked their bails in a case related to massive corruption in the provincial information department.
