Shahid Afridi becomes only Pakistani leading wicket taker in T20

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi added another feather to his hat as he became the only Pakistani leading wicket taker in Twenty20 international.

Shahif Afridi is leading Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi took four-wicket in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match.

The star all-rounder also broke Pakistani bowler Sohail Tanveer’s record of 278 wickets.

On the other hand, the former Pakistani all-rounder also added another feather to his hat with a four-wicket haul in the Bangladesh Premier League match on Saturday.

The former World T20 winning hero conceded only 26 runs during his stipulated four overs. This was Afridi’s 11th four-wicket haul in his professional career, the most by any Pakistani cricketer in the shortest format of the game. His tally of 11 four-wicket hauls also included two five wickets haul.

While taking four wickets Afridi surpassed Yasir Arafat and Umar Gul, both of them have 10 T20 four-wicket hauls. The leg-spinner now joined Lasith Malinga in the list of most four-wicket haul by any player in T20 cricket. Malinga has so far, picked up 12 four-wicket hauls in T20s.

The former Pakistani all-rounder is currently at second place in the list of most 4-wicket hauls, sharing the position with West Indies spinner Sunil Narine. With this four-wicket haul, Afridi’s total T20 wickets tally is now 281, jointly the most by a Pakistani bowler with Yasir Arafat.

Afridi retired from international cricket in 2016 after Pakistan’s exit from the World T20 in India. Since, his retirement he has been playing only franchise based tournament in England, Bangladesh and in Pakistan.
