SC seeks bill draft against domestic child labour

ISLAMABAD (APP): Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the additional attorney general to submit initial draft of the bill against domestic child labour in Tayyaba torture case and adjourned the hearing for a week.

A three-member bench of court headed by Chief Justice, Saqib Nisar picked up the Tayyaba case for hearing here.

During the proceeding, Justice Saqib Nisar asked that what development had been made in Tayyaba case?

Advocate General, Mian Abdul Rauf told the court that the case had been sent to the Islamabad High Court and would be heard there.

He further informed the court that the chalaan against the defendants had been filed and they had been served notices to appear in court on April 27.

Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that there was also a need of legislation to end this social evil.

The CJP observed that Domestic Workers (Employment Rights) Act had been presented in Senate in 2013 and what happened to it next?

Additional Attorney General Rana Waqar told the bench that the government was discussing the bill with stakeholders and it would be presented in court soon.

Justice Nisar instructed the attorney general to show the final draft of the bill to all stakeholders and inform the court about their comments.
