Sarfraz Ahmed unleashes strategy against India

LONDON: Pakistan One Day International cricket team Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said on Saturday that Pakistan will play attacking cricket against India when the two sides meet at The Oval tomorrow in a bid to claim the coveted ICC Champions Trophy 2017 title.

Speaking to reporters and journalists at the pre-match press conference, Sarfaraz said that his team had bounced back since they had played attacking cricket against opposition teams in the recent days.

“You cannot win matches against cricket teams until and unless you take wickets,” he said.

In response to a question, Sarfaraz said that it was a welcome sign that youngsters were playing good cricket for Pakistan.

“Fakhar made his debut in this tournament and his performance is there for all to see,” he said. “Shadab Khan is also an exceptional player. Rumman made his debut against England and you all saw how well he bowled,” he added.

Sarfaraz said that the whole team and coach prepared the strategy before every fixture keeping in mind the pitch conditions and other factors.

In response to another question, the Pakistan cricket team captain said that his team had been treating this tournament as a knockout one after the first game and the approach against India would not change.

When asked as to whether Rumman Raees would play the final against India after his impressive showing, Sarfaraz said that time would tell.

“We played Rumman Raees against England since Mohammad Amir was unfit,” he said. “Amir is now fit hence we will have to see on the day according to the conditions whether we can play Raees or not,” he added.

The Pakistan cricket team captain in the end thanked supporters for placing confidence in the squad and backing them all the way to the final of the tournament.
