Punjab government makes model town tragedy report public

LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the government has made public the Model Town tragedy report prepared by Justice Baqar Najafi.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said that the report was not being made public as it could affect the sectarian harmony.

He claimed that no government figure has been held responsible in the report. “The report carries unconfirmed information and full of defects,” he said. “There is not a single word in the report that holds the chief minister responsible.”

The minister questioned that Tahirul Qadri should tell the masses who assembled the workers in Model Town. “Who continued to instigate the workers to attack the police?”

He said that baseless propaganda was being launched for the last three years.

Rana Sanaullah also declared Sheikh Rashid a ‘devil’.

The 132-page report has been published on the website.
