PSL 2017: Sharjeel, Khalid being forced by PCB to confess crime

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad United batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were presented before the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) after they were provisionally suspended and sent home last week for their suspected links to an international fixing syndicate looking to corrupt Pakistan’s T20 tournament.

The PCB earlier this week also suspended former batsman Nasir Jamshed over his “important” role in the fixing scandal.

Sharjeel and Latif have reportedly been advised to plead guilty if they want to minimise the penalties they are going to face.

A reliable source in the PCB confirmed that Khalid Latif, who earlier offered to become an approver, was offered by a top official of the board to confess his mistake and plead guilty.

A similar offer has been made to Sharjeel Khan as well.
