Talks between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the visiting President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas have begun in Islamabad.
The two leaders are having one-on-one meeting, which would be followed by delegation level talks.
The two leaders are reviewing all aspects of bilateral relations and avenues for further cooperation.
Radio Pakistan's correspondent Zahid Hameed says the Palestinian leader is expected to brief the Prime Minister about recent developments and emerging scenarios in the Palestine conflict.
Pakistan has always supported the just cause of Palestinian people at all forums and this position would be reiterated during the visit of the Palestinian President.
Earlier, formal welcome ceremony for the visiting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was held at Prime Minister House in Islamabad today.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif warmly received the distinguished guest on arrival.
National anthems of the two countries were played on the occasion. A smartly turned out contingent of the armed forces present salute and guard of honour to the Palestinian President. The visiting dignitary inspected the guard of honour.
The Prime Minister introduced the cabinet members to the Palestinian President and the distinguished guest introduced the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to the members of his entourage.
