PM Nawaz Sharif hits at opponents at Heveli Bahadur Shah

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says his government is successfully heading towards permanently eliminating load shedding from the country.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of 760-megawatt first unit of Haveli Bahadur Shah near Jhang on Friday.

The Prime Minister said power generation is being increased at a fast pace, and these projects will give boost to industry, agriculture, and trade.

He said completion of the first unit of this power project in twenty-one months is unbelievable. He said the government believes in provision of affordable electricity to people.

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said our foes are disturbed over unprecedented development in various fields in the country.

He said industry is booming, agriculture is growing, road network is being expanded, and tourism is thriving in the country due to the government's untiring efforts.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Haveli Bahadur Shah, Bhikki and Balloki power plants will add 3600 MW power to the national grid.

He said gap in power supply and demand in June 2013 was 67 percent, which has now been reduced to 19 percent.

The Minister said power transmission and distribution system is also being upgraded.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said 168 billion rupees have been saved in Haveli Bahadur Shah, Bhikki and Balloki power plants due to transparency.

He said new power plants will bring development to all sectors besides creating new job opportunities.

Earlier, Project Director Rashid Mehmud Langrial briefed the Prime Minister that the power plant will produce a total of 1230 MW electricity.

He said the first unit has been made operational in a record period of twenty-one months, saving fifty seven billion rupees.  

He said the cost of production is quite low due to transparency in bidding process, which will benefit consumers.
