Panama case verdict: How politicians, lawmakers & business community reacted

LAHORE: Politicians, lawmakers and businessmen, welcoming Supreme Court verdict in Panama case, termed it a victory of democracy and defeat of politics of protests.

"The decision proved the fact that the entire Pakistani nation is standing with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and not with those who believe in the politics of hooliganism and sit-ins," they added.

Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan said that the SC decision buried the politics of sit-ins once and for all.

He said that people wanted continuation of development process and prompt resolution of their issues while the journey of progress would continue under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

He said that six months ago Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, through a letter to the Supreme Court, had himself asked the Apex court to form a commission and probe the matter, and today the honourable court announced the same decision that the PM had suggested.

Provincial Information, Excise and Taxation Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said that the SC decision was historic which defeated elements dreaming of grabing power through backdoor.

He said that the verdict disappointed those pursuing negative politics. He urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership not to be jealous of the PML-N successes and let the government work independently.

Lawmakers Majid Zahoor, Bao Akhtar, Waheed Gul, Mian Naseer, Yasin Sohal said that the SC decision proved that Nawaz Sharif was innocent and did nothing wrong. They said he (Nawaz) would emerge victorious from the JIT investigation also.

PML-N Punjab President Pervaiz Malik, MNA, said that the PML-N was the only popular party of the country which believed in serving masses selflessly.

"With Nawaz Sharif leading the party, the PML-N will also be successful in people's court in 2018. It will form governments in all four provinces with a thumping majority," they said.

PM's Media Advisor Muhammad Mehdi said that Imran Khan must be held accountable for wasting People's time.

Jamiat Ahle Hadith Amir Senator Prof Sajid Mir expressed his satisfaction over the verdict and said it was a historic decision.

Aalmi Tehrik-e-Tahaffuz-e-Harmain Shrifain Allama Zubair Ahmed Zaheer said that Nawaz Sharif would get re-elected for the next five years.

LCCI President Abdul Basit said that the Supreme Court decision would pave the way for progress of the country, adding that it would also bring about political as well as economic stability in the country.

Renowned film producer and director Syed Noor hailed the SC decision, saying that the economy would boost and process of development would continue. (APP)
