Panama Case: SC cannot directly disqualify PM, Attorney General tells Court

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan resumed the Panama Papers case hearing on Wednesday.
Supreme Court snubbed the Attorney General of Pakistan for being a Sharif Family lawyer rather than Attorney General of Pakistan.
Speaking about disqualification of the Prime Minister, the Attorney General said that the law states that the disqualification reference is first sent to the speaker, and if he does not respond only then the court can intervene.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf counsel Naeem Bukhari responded saying that the Supreme Court had sent former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani home even though $65 million were never returned to the public exchequer.
In the last hearing on Tuesday, the SC remarked that the neither the National Accountability Bureau nor the Federal Bureau of Revenue were doing their jobs.
