Panama case proceedings in the Supreme Court today

The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of the Panama Papers implementation case till tomorrow.

The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan resumed the hearing in Islamabad on Wednesday.

In today's hearing, Counsel for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Khawaja Haris completed his arguments and said under the law no person could be held responsible for any property or assets owned by his relatives or associates.

He said there is no authentic evidence in the JIT report that anyone has held properties abroad on behalf of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The counsel said his client does not have any offshore assets.

On this, the judges remarked that they will decide after reviewing and analysing all the contents and evidences.

Initiating his arguments, Counsel for Finance Minister, Tariq Hassan said that findings of the JIT report about his client were concocted and not factual. He said Ishaq Dar has no business interest abroad and nothing has been proved against him.

On this the court remarked that there are many questions that need to be answered and the decision will be taken as per due process of law.
