Pakistan Turkey cultural ties enhanced

ISLAMABAD: Managing Director, National Book Foundation (NBF) Prof. Dr. Inam-ul-Haq Javeid has said that bilateral relations between brother countries, Pakistan and Turkey will strengthen with inter-coordination of cultural and literary activities.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Director of Maaraf Foundation of Turkey, Sulahuddin Batar at NBF Head Office Islamabad, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.

“Turkey is a close and fast brother country of Pakistan since long. We have very close relation with Turkey on the basis of our same cultural, religious and literary heritage,” said Javeid at this auspicious occasion.

He said, “Turkey has expressed its consent of setting up, ‘Turkish Corner’ in NBF, Islamabad with an aim of transmission of bilateral literature, cultural and religious ideas and views.”

Both countries agreed to start a project of joint publications in a meeting held in the office. The Turkish Corner is also a keystone of this activity in NBF.

The Managing Director briefed the guests of the brotherly country about activities and projects envisaged by the Foundation for the inculcation of reading habit, dissemination of knowledge and promotion of book culture among people far and wide in Pakistan.

He said, “For this purpose, NBF has started to establish literary corners here including Nizami Gangvi Corner of Azerbijan, Hafez Sherazi Corner of Iran and others corners of friendly countries.”

The Director of ‘Maaraf Foundation Turkey’ visited different sections and departments of NBF Head Office Islamabad. He took keen interest in National Book Museum, Central Book Shop, National Book Park, One Stone Book, Wall of Honour, My Bookshelf, Book Wall Clock and others special areas of NBF.

He appreciated the collection of rare and expensive manuscripts of the Quran’an Majeed, sculptures of our literary heroes and prominent literary personalities. He expressed his views of gratitude and thankfulness in ‘The Visitor’s Book’ placed in National Book Museum.

He also applauded the efforts of NBF in spreading literary activities and book oriented reading habit among masses. The NBF published and written by well known writer Rubab Aysha’s book, “Turkey Ky Qadeem Qissay oar Kahanian” and it was presented by M.D. to Director Maaraf Foundation Turkey.
