Pakistan Mission in Geneva celebrates Independence Day

GENEVA: (APP) Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva held a dignified ceremony to celebrate the country's 70th Independence Day.

After hoisting Pakistan's flag on the chancery building and singing the national anthem, the participants heard the messages of the President and the Prime Minister on this occasion.

The Permanent Representative, Ambassador Tehmina Janjua, paid rich tribute to the nation's founding fathers and the sacrifices of countless others to win and maintain independence in the face of overwhelming odds.

She highlighted that the Pakistani nation stood as resolutely united as ever to continue surmounting all challenges for making the country more strong and prosperous.

The participants reiterated their pledge to serve the best interests of their country on the diplomatic front.

The gathering also echoed the Prime Minister's message in expressing solidarity with Pakistan's brethren in Indian Occupied Kashmir that are braving bullets and pellets guns to continue their just struggle for freedom.

The ceremony ended with a collective dua for the country and its fallen heroes.
