Pak Vs West Indies 2nd ODI: Matter of survival for Pakistan

PROVIDENCE: Pakistan will face West Indies in second one-day international (ODI) today (Sunday) to fight for survival in the series.

According to details, the match will be played at Providence Stadium, Guyana at 06:30 PM (PST).

The tourists lost their first encounter of three-match ODI series against the Windies by four wickets, and are in a must-win situation to remain alive in the series today.

Due to Pakistan’s poor bowling performance in first ODI, Junaid Khan is likely to make a comeback in the team for second match to strengthen the attack. Pakistan were unable to defend their 308 runs in Friday’s game.

It is pertinent here to mention that West Indies series is extremely important for the Green Shirts as only top eight teams by September 30 will qualify directly for the 2019 World Cup (WC), and Pakistan are at eighth spot at the moment.

If Sarfraz XI are able to win the series, their chances of qualification will increase, but if West Indies brush aside the tourists in the event then Pakistan might slip down to ninth spot, making room for the Windies at number eight.

It is also to be mentioned here that West Indies had last time won ODI series against Pakistan in 1991.
