Pak-Afghan Border Complexes at Torkham-Chaman being developed

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has said that government is taking measures to develop Pakistan as an economic corridor and enhance regional connectivity.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad today to review the progress on the development of border crossing complexes at Torkham and Chaman as part of the Integrated Transit Trade Management System project.
Ishaq Dar said that the project, once completed, will result in significant reduction in processing times at the border crossing points in Torkham and Chaman.
Asian Development Bank Country Director informed the meeting that ADB considers it as an important project due to its significance in the context of the corridor for trade envisaged under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized the government's resolve to further strengthen anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism frameworks for peace and security of the country.
He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Friday to review progress on the implementation of measures against money laundering and terrorism financing.
The Finance Minister urged all stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and collective efforts in order to achieve the desired results.
Director General, Financial Monitoring Unit, updated the Finance Minister on the actions undertaken taken to curb the menace of money laundering and terrorism financing.
The Foreign Secretary apprised the Finance Minister of the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Foreign Office and the embassies of Pakistan around the world to highlight Pakistan's efforts with respect to anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.
