Oil Tanker tragedy worsens as more deaths reported from Hospitals

MULTAN: The Bahawalpur oil tanker blast that shook the whole nation just ahead of the Eid has worsened further as more and more deaths are reported from the hospitals.

Ten more victims of the oil-tanker tragedy succumbed to their injuries at the Nishtar Hospital here on Monday.

According to hospital sources, the deceased included Aslam son of Abdul Kareem, Mulazim son of Allah Wasaya, Jamil Ahmad son of Allah Bukhsh, Shehzad Ahamd son of Saeed Ahmad, Qasim son of Muhammad Yar, Akhtar son of Ghulam Qadir Umar and four unidentified.

Pakistan began Eid in mourning Monday as the death toll from an oil tanker explosion rose to 153, with scores more injured after they were caught in a fireball while scooping up spilling fuel.

Dozens of grief-stricken relatives waited outside hospitals in Bahawalpur, the nearest major city to the disaster, to claim the bodies of their loved ones as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrived to visit victims.
