New Islamabad AirPort inauguration announced

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad Monday said that the new Islamabad International Airport would be inaugurated on August 14, next year.

Replying to various questions during question hour at National Assembly, he said that the present airport was a national asset and would be utilized by civil aviation.

Replying to another question, he said that during the tenure of present government a total of 5 foreigners had been hired for Pakistan International Airline (PIA), out of them, two were deployed in Pakistan while three abroad for bringing improvement.

He said that PIA has obtained A-330-300 aircraft in order to compete with other airlines.

He said that due to induction of more aircraft in fleet, the punctuality of flights had increased to above 90 per cent during 2016.

Replying another question, he said that government had planned to establish well equipped hospitals in the country to meet the medical needs as people had to go abroad for treatment as per medical requirement.

Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Dewan Ashiq Hussain Bukhari replying a question said that an inquiry would be conducted into the matters of train operating between Chaman-Quetta.

He said that number of passenger trains and cargo express were operated under public private partnership.
