Nepal offers on-arrival visa to Pakistanis

LAHORE: (APP) Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan, Ms Sewa Lamsal Adhikari said on Tuesday that Nepal government will offer on-arrival visa to Pakistani business community to promote bilateral trade relation.

She announced this in a meeting with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Chairman and Vice President Manzoorul Haq Malik here at FPCCI Regional Office.

The Ambassador said that Pakistan is one of the most important countries for Nepal to promote Regional Trade especially in prospective of SAARC regime but the logistics issues, lack of communication and proper marketing were some hurdles to expansion of bilateral trade.

Sewa Lamsal Adhikari also stressed the need for exchanging business delegations for enhancing trade and promotion of investment opportunities between Nepal and

Pakistan and assured her full support. She invited members of FPCCI to participate in Nepal Investment Summit scheduled to be held in Katmandu next month.

Manzoorul Haq Malik said that despite huge trade potential existing between Nepal and Pakistan, bilateral trade volume is comparatively very low due to coordination and connectivity problem in trade promotion.

Highlighting various opportunities of joint ventures, he said that agriculture and tourism are the key sectors where both the countries could collaborate. "Pakistan and Nepal should approach various airlines to start direct flights from Karachi and Lahore via Kathmandu to facilitate businessmen and also establish people-to-people contact," he suggested.

On this occasion, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Vice President Ifrtikhar Ali Malik also spoke about Pakistan and Nepal trade opportunities. He said Pakistani products, particularly rice, leather and leather goods, carpets, pharmaceuticals,textiles, pashmina lawn,textile made ups and allied products have great potential in Nepal which needs to be marketed properly.

Iftikhar Malik said that numbers of Pakistani investors are interested to enter into the joint ventures with Nepalese counterparts.

In the end, the FPCCI crest was presented to Ms Sewa Lamsal Adhikari, by Manzoorul Haq Malik.
