Nawaz Sharif calls Pakistani politics a filth to be kept away from KhatamNabuwwat

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Nawaz Sharif Sunday said belief in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat (finality of Prophethood) is a part of the country's constitution and the matter should be kept clean from "political filth."

In a statement issued to media, the PML-N head said the negative views expressed on the matter have nothing to do with his party's ideology and policies.

"The minorities have got complete safety of their lives and belongings, as well as their basic rights. They have all these rights in accordance with the constitution and Islamic teachings," he said.

"Any negative views on the matter are not linked to the PML-N's ideology and policies."

Sharif said the people of Pakistan thrice chose him as the prime minister and each time he served them without any discrimination of language, colour and creed. "I made sure minorities' rights without discrimination on the basis of religion or faith."

Noting that his party has the honour of being the party of the Father of the Nation, he said Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah assured all the segments of the society of their religious and social freedom in the country.

"Ensuring this freedom is now a constitutional requirement and one cannot even imagine of deviating from it."

The PML-N president, however, said having complete, unwavering belief in finality of Prophethood is a requisite to being a Muslim. "The belief in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat has become an unbreakable part of our constitution and the matter has been decided for ever.

"The matter should be kept clean from political filth," Sharif said, adding that the mistake in Election Bill 2017 was immediately rectified, for which he is thankful to all parliamentary parties.
