NAB detains Revenue department official over corruption allegations

LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore Thursday arrested an official of the Revenue Department from the Lahore High Court premises for his alleged corruption.
According to NAB spokesman, accused Riaz Hussain is an assistant in Revenue Department and he had allegedly accumulated assets of millions of rupees in the form of bank balance and properties in different areas of Lahore by using illegal sources.
NAB Lahore initiated an inquiry against the accused in 2016 and converted it into an investigation in 2017.
Earlier on March 14, 2017, Riaz Hussain managed to escape from LHC premises with the help of his son and daughter-in-law as both are employed there.
The accused had filed a petition in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry for a pre-arrest bail, which was rejected on Thursday and he was taken into custody by the NAB authorities.
The accused will be presented before an accountability court on Friday for seeking his remand. (APP)
