NA passes amendment bill on delimitation with two-thirds vote

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly passed the bill on delimitation of the constituencies with a two-thirds majority on Thursday.

As many as 242 votes were cast in favor of the bill, a vote went against it. 162 treasury members participated in the voting.

The House also passed the Amended Electoral Reforms Bill 2017 on Thursday.

Both bills were tabled by Law Minister Zahid Hamid.

Speaking in the National Assembly, he said that the affidavit regarding Khatm-e-Nabuwwat has been restored to its original form. He said that under the Amended Electoral Reforms Bill 2017, Qadianis will remain non-Muslims and their voters’ list will be different from the Muslims.

Under the bill, the Section 7C and 7B will be made more effective.

Before the National Assembly session, a meeting of the parliamentary leaders decided that all the parties are in unison over the delimitation bill. NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq presided over the meeting.
