NA Committee presents memorandum on Kashmir to UN Resident Coordinator

The National Assembly`s Committee on Kashmir has urged the United Nations to hold plebiscite in Occupied Kashmir in accordance with the resolutions of Security Council.

In connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day on Sunday, the Committee presented a memorandum to UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan calling upon the World Body to impress upon India for immediate withdrawal of its troops and stoppage of bloodshed in the Held valley.

The memorandum also called for allowing UN and Independent investigations into the human rights situation.

It demanded that the UN should enhance the role of its military observer group in India and Pakistan to ensure peace at LOC and Working Boundary.

It called for appointment of Special Reporter on Kashmir by UN Human Rights Council.

Later talking to media, members of the Kashmir Committee Ejaz-ul-Haq, Ghaus Bakhsh Mehr, Shakila Luqman and Abdul Waseem said the blatant human rights violations in Kashmir have cracked the myth of Indian democracy.

They said Pakistan has been reminding to fulfill its promises on Kashmir. They said that today memorandum was conveyed to UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan Neil Bohne who has assured the Kashmir Committee for conveying the  reservations of Pakistan on UN`s role in the dispute.

The Committee members said every fresh torture spree by Indian forces makes Kashmir the international headline with vehement advocates from across the world standing for the cause.

They said last year the special envoys appointed by the Government for Kashmir cause have helped realize the world community of the barbarism being suffered by Kashmiris for their just right of self determination.
