Mehdi Hasan 90th birth anniversary being observed today

The 90th birth anniversary of legendary singer Mehdi Hassan is being observed on Tuesday.
Mehdi Hassan was given the opportunity to sing on Radio Pakistan, primarily as a thumri singer, which earned him recognition within the musical fraternity.
He earned fame as ghazal and playback singer. "Gulon mein rang bharay,baad-e-naubahar chale" gave him a major breakthrough in his professional career.
He was recipient of many awards including Nigar, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Nishan-e-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance.
