Low Caste Hindu Riots errupt in Indian Gujrat 




GUJRAT: Low Caste Hindu Riots erupted in Indian Gujrat.

 

Thousands of members of Patel Community held protests against the detention of 22-year old Hadrik on rioting and sedition charges.

 

Angry protesters burnt several vehicles and buildings during clashes with police in Mehsana and Surat and they launched "jail-bharo" agitation.

 

The situation becomes worse after the news that SPG convenor Lalijit Patel sustained injuries during agitation.

 

The protestors pelted stones at police and targeted transport vehicles.

 

Police fired tear gas shells and also used “Lathi Charge" to disperse the crowd.

 

Police also detained more than 400 people. Curfew was imposed in the affected areas and mobile service has also been suspended.

 

SPG convenor Lalijit claimed that the protest was peaceful but police hit us and protesters become violent.

 

A 27-year-old Patel youth committed suicide upon learning police action against Patel community.

 

His relatives claimed that he was shocked after learning police action against Patel community and end his life by consuming poisonous substance.
