LHC dismisses plea against tendering process of new police uniform

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Thursday dismissed a petition seeking directions to set aside the tendering process for preparing new uniform of Punjab police.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on petitioner for filing unnecessary petition.

LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah was hearing the petition filed by Shabir Ismail. The petitioner had challenged the tendering process for the new uniform submitting that PPRA rules were not followed.

During the hearing, the court was apprised that the petitioner's counsel could not appear due to his engagement in the Apex Court.

The chief justice took a note of counsel's absence and expressed annoyance.

A provincial law officer informed the court that tender for preparing new uniform of Punjab police was given in accordance with PPRA rules. He said that decision of changing uniform was taken in accordance with the policy.

At this, the court dismissed the petition and imposed Rs 10,000 fine on the petitioner for filing petition without any evidence. (APP)
