KPK Government to produce 1200 MW electricity by power projects

PESHAWAR (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government would initiate various projects in power sector to produce 1200 MW of electricity by June 2018, said Minister for Energy Muhammad Atif.

Presiding over a meeting, he said that these projects would strengthen the economy in the province, besides attracting investment of billions of dollars.

He said that under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor project, the Chinese investors have shown interest in power projects of 1700 MW projects, adding that many local and foreign investors are also interested to invest in energy sector in KP.

He said that 32 companies have submitted expression of interest in six power projects of 668 MW recently advertised. These projects of multi million dollars would be handed over to private sector by next month, he told.

The Minister said that work on 356 mini micro projects of 35 mega watt would benefit one million people on completion.

Atif claimed that for the first time in history of KP, any government has initiated projects of thousands MW of power production.
