KP Government seven projects of 1978 MW included in CPEC

PESHAWAR: (APP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Energy and Power Muhammad Atif Khan said Tuesday the provincial government has selected seven projects of 1978 megawatt costing US $ 6919million in hydle sector in Chitral, establishment of oil refinery in Kohat and transmission line from Chitral to Chakdarra for inclusion in CPEC.

He said a delegation of experts would visit China next month to take these projects with Chinese authorities. He expressed these views while chairing a review meeting of Energy and Power Department here.

Secretary Energy and Power, Engineer Naeem Khan, CEO PEDO KP Akbar Ayub, CEO KPOGCL Raziuddin and Chief Planning Officer, Syed Zainullah Shah attended the meeting.

The meeting was briefed in detail regarding ongoing, new and proposed projects of energy and power sector and important decisions were taken.

The meeting was informed on the progress on Sharmai, Jabori, Lawi, Karora, Daral Khwar and Mataltan power projects besides run of canal project and provision of electricity to flood effected villages of Chitral.

A consultant for 300 megawatt Balakot Hydel power project has been hired and would be launched soon with an assistance of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Two projects of run of canal pilot project would be completed by end of this month. The soliarization of 8000 schools and 182 BHUs would be achieved with collaboration with ADB while work on solarization of 6000 villages has been already approved.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to include 1000 mosques also in the solarization projects.

The Minister directed acceleration of work on hydel power projects. He said 150 out of 356 micro hydel power projects have been completed and vowed to complete the remaining by December 31 this year.
