KP-FATA merger: Imran Khan files petition in Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD  – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has on Wednesday filed a petition in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan for the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

President Mamnoon Hussain, Ministry of Law, Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) and FATA Secretariat have been made the members of this petition.

It has been stated that the Constitution of Pakistan gives equal rights to all the citizens, and the president possesses the authority of legislation to bring peace and governance to FATA as he also announced reform package for the region earlier.

The petition further said that KP government has fulfilled all its constitutional responsibilities and is ready for the merger. KP Assembly has already passed a resolution regarding FATA-KP merger and PTI has raised this issue on every forum before contacting the apex court, said the application.
